Task 4: An Inconvenient Truth

“An Inconvenient Truth” is a documentary that talks about global warming. It explains the causes and effects of the rise of temperature globally and the disasters that will fall upon the earth. There have been many opinions regarding this documentary. I will talk about some positive and negative previews after I researched in the internet.

Al Gore did a good job in the documentary “An Inconvenient Truth”. He made the presentation interesting and attractive. It talked about the serious problems that could be caused by global warming and its effects on humans, animals and plants. It also discussed about how its related to the floods, droughts and worst storm season ever recorded. It was like a wakeup call for the world to start acting to prevent global warming. (Brussat)

However, Al Gore brought in his family’s tragedies in the documentary and his political ties after mentioning at the start that it has nothing to do with politics. This information has nothing to do with an environmental subject and only prove that there is a hidden agenda in the film to self-serve Gore politically. His film isn’t creative and he’s practically lost in computer animations. (Putman)

To conclude, I think this film was made to help Gore in fixing his political image. After the film ended, I found myself thinking about the tragedies that occurred in his family instead of the main reason of the film, which is global warming. However let’s face it, the global warming is true and its effects are visible and clear to everybody. Not only polar bears or plants will be in danger, humans will also be affected by it and every other species that lives on this plant. Something has to be done, otherwise our grandchildren will not have a future.
