Honey has been found to be a better cure to upper respiratory infections to children above the age of two. While physicians have been giving medicines that contain dextromethrophan to relive children from pain and help them sleep, it also has proven to have side effects on the children such as difficulty in breathing and mood changes along with slurred speech and nausea. However, a spoon a honey before they sleep will greatly relieve their pain and also contains a lot of vitamins. Experiments have shown significant results and honey proved to be the most effective against cough. Dextromethrophan had the same effect as having no medicine at all. Also parents reported that their children had much peaceful and quite night after they had a spoon of honey while parents who gave their children dextromethrophan suffered from lack of sleep.
